Facts :

  • It is common for the Media to address Seunggi as ‘Emperor Seunggi’ or the ‘King of Ratings’ due to the fact that the shows he starred in secured high ratings.
  • Seunggi’s success in all three aspects of entertainment (Acting, Variety & Music) has also earned him the title of ‘Triple Crown’
  • He also has the nickname of ‘UmChinAh’, meaning,  mother’s friend’s son and refers to that elusive competitor whom you always hear about but never meet, who succeeds at everything and to whom you are constantly, and always unfavourably compared to.
  • He is skilled in playing the piano as well as the guitar. He didn’t know how to play the drums originally but learnt it especially for his first concert ‘Love’ in order to show his fans a different side of him. However, after reviewing his own performance, he decided to not perform the drums again because he felt that he wasn’t good enough.
  • Seunggi is trilingual. He knows English, Korean and Japanese. He can also understand certain Chinese (hanja) characters.
  • To date, Seunggi has had 2 relationships. The first in Junior High, and the second in Senior High.
  • Seunggi was Gikwang’s and (B2ST) Yoseob’s senior during his high school days (Sanggae Senior High School).
  • Despite his busy schedule, Seunggi finished his S1 degree in 4 years, thus earning himself the Special Achievement Award.
  • Seunggi’s famous nickname as the ‘Heodang’, meaning black hole, was given by Kim C as a New Year’s Present during one of the 1n2d episodes.
  • Seunggi is rather hopeless at cooking. He can only cook if there is a digital timer as well as a recipe for him to follow. To him, precise measurements are important in cooking. Despite his weakness, he has mentioned that he wishes to cook for his girlfriend in the future and is currently picking up some skills from his mum.
  • Seunggi has ‘mature taste buds’. He likes food that is good for health and can even stand food with fishy taste.
  • He values personal privacy, a lot, especially when it comes to his family members. His family has declined knowing him on a couple of occasions and it was once mentioned on strong heart that they pretend to be strangers the moment they step out of the house. Also, many of his sister’s friends do not know that her brother is Lee Seung Gi. Though so, he says that he has a close relationship with his family and they show their affection to each other through hugs.
  • Seunggi does not have any Twitter, Facebook, me2day or SNS accounts. (So don’t be tricked by any fake accounts!) He communicates with his fans through leaving messages at his official website. (www.leeseunggi.com) However, he did start a twitter account  @sbschadaewoong  during his My Girlfriend is a Gumiho days for promotional purposes but it was subsequently deleted after the drama ended.
  • Seunggi admitted that he does not leave messages on his website regularly (except on special occasions) because he is bad at using the computer.
  • Seunggi likes music, soccer and photography. He meets up with his 1n2d mate Lee Su Geun occasionally to play soccer. (He even bought him soccer shoes!) He was going to meet up with Kim Hyun Joong (SS501) on one occasion to play soccer but KHJ forgotten (got drunk actually) about it and left him waiting.
  • He was the Student Council President of both his Middle and High school.
  • He can’t stand tickling, at all. He is also afraid of ghosts. There was once on a bus trip during 1n2d that hodong and the others started telling ghost stories and Seunggi ended up crying.
  • He is also afraid of heights. He failed to complete the bungee jumping mission on 1n2d. Though so, he demonstrated his professionalism by filiming a segment of ‘The King 2hearts’ on the roller coaster.
  • One of his favourite drinks is Starbucks’ Green Tea Frappucino (without whip cream). He once ordered it on an episode of 1n2d and ordered one for himself during a tk2h filming when he treated everyone to drinks.
  • He only has the contacts of 3 actresses, Han Hyo Joo, Shin Min Ah and Moon Chae Won. He was not allowed to have a cellphone for 5 years. (during his pre-debut a teeny bit of his post-debut days.)
  • Among all the actresses he had worked with, he is the closest to Han Hyo Joo.
  • Seunggi has expressed his desire to enlist before 30.
  • He does not want his girlfriend to dress too revealingly.
  • SeungGi believes in love at the first sight.
  • He can hold his liquor well. However when he is drunk, he tends to become very talkative.
  • He once broke his finger on an episode of 1n2d because mc mong sat on his finger and thus he ended up attending Lee Sugeun’s wedding with his arm in a cast.
  • He bought his own pirated album in China during a 1n2d filming because he thought it was interesting.
  • SeungGi really respects Kang Hodong, and considers Kang Hodong as his mentor. He misses KHD after his retirement from the industry and has repeatedly mentioned it and hopes that he would return to the industry too.
  • A fangirl who was lucky enough to attend the 1n2d viewer’s trip revealed the Lee Seung Gi signed off without the ‘Gi’ part because he was very busy.
  • The idea of the 5-min music broadcast for his 5th album came from Lee Seung Gi himself.
  • He feels that the best part of his looks are his eyelashes as they’re longer than most people.
  • Seunggi is happy with the way he looks and gives himself a 7.8/10 for his appearance.
  • Seunggi likes to set his own songs as his ringtone.
  • When he sleeps, his lips part slightly.
  • His ideal woman was SNSD’s Yoona for a few years but has recently changed to Ha Ji Won after working with her on his latest drama, The King 2hearts.
  • He is a free thinker.
  • Seunggi’s song ‘Time for Love’ was written by him (using only 20 minutes) during a 1n2d filming trip in Japan when he was feeling really lonely. He really, really wants to get a girlfriend.
  • The reason why he narrated ‘Time for Love’ himself was because he wanted to cut costs. The narration was supposed to only be at the end of the song, as a really short part but since he managed to get Han Hyo Joo to do it, he & Ra.D decided to increase the length of the narration.
  • Seunggi does not has confidence in his forehead. He thinks that it is far too wide.
  • He admits that it was stressful for him during his debut days when he guested on X-man and other variety shows because he didn’t know how to dance or do variety. It was 1n2d that opened up the variety world to him.
  • He was only supposed to be a guest on 1n2d for 2 episodes but because the response from the viewers was good, the director offered him a place as a permanent member.
  • There were some rumours about him being in a relationship with Brown Eyed Girl's Gain but the matter was cleared up soon after.
  • The paparazzi stayed outside his house for 6 months but still couldn’t find anything scandalous, once again proving that he is of exemplary character.
  • When asked by a reporter regarding his ‘Chocolate Abs’, Seunggi replied humorously that ‘They melted because it’s summer.’
  • The name of his fanclub is Airen 爱人, meaning Lover in chinese and the official fan club colour is pearl mint.
  • He made a promise to his fans in 2009 that he would hold a concert every year to return to his roots as a singer and he has kept his promise ever since.
  • His title song from his 4th album ‘Let’s Break Up’ was accused of plagarism and was thus, not promoted very widely.
  • His digital single, ‘Love taught me to Drink’ was banned because it mentioned drinking.
  • Despite being in the entertainment industry, Seunggi majors in International Trade. He originally wanted to major in ’ Mass Communication & Journalism’ but had to give it  up due to his busy schedule.
  • Seunggi does not like to show ‘skin’ unlike other idols. He has only revealed his abs thrice. Once during a Saem CF, the other during his 2009 hope concert and most recently, on the drama, The King 2hearts.
  • Seunggi has over 10 bank accounts which are managed by his parents who are bank employees.
  • He is sometimes referred to as ‘Teng-ja’s Appa’ by countryside folk due to his role in his debut drama, Seven Princesses.
  • He once made a mistake on SBS Inkigayo by saying Music Bank instead.
  • He has never been to a club before.
  • He was scouted by singer Lee Sun Hee and debuted at 17 in 2004.
  • Another Heodang Moment: He once bought a sweater for his teacher for teachers’ day but the size was way too big for her.
  • He lives in ‘Brownstone Legend’ in Seoul, which is worth 3.1 million dollars. The brownstone legend building includes a fitness center, golf range, an event venue, Audio Video theater room, and plenty more. His celebrity neighbours include  Lee Hyo Ri.
